Was using my Miele Champagne vacuum, powered down, changed the bag, and now I have no power. I checked to make sure all lids were securely closed, still no power. Checked to make sure outlet was working, still no power...help.

Answers :

Most likely the cord went bad, one side of it opened up, you will have to replace the cord reel asm. if this is the problem, Could also be a switch, electronic control or the motor.

The vacuum leaks dust around the joint between the bag and the vacuum. I unlatched the bag, removed and emptied it, and replaced it. However, the vacuum still leaks dust around the joint and the bag keeps working loose. How can I make sure that the bag is securely latched so that it does not leak or come loose? I have no manual. Thanks.

Rainbow Vacuum, about 5 yrs old (bought new, no issues prior) - my 6yr old tipped it on it's side while water was in basin. Now when I turn the power on, it makes a very loud sound in the motor and you can feel the vibration on the floor. The suction still works and basin still catches dirt - the noise is just so loud and I'm not sure if I should continue use or how to fix -?

Although a wet/dry vacuum, it cannot tolerate water in the motor. Water will cause the motor to short out, which will cause the motor to act/sound like yours does now, if it continues working at all.\015\012To prevent additional problems, the ... Rainbow E series Canister Wet/Dry Vacuum

My Dyson DC 14 is making the horrible "ratcheting"sound only when the brush is engaged on the carpet setting. I have cleaned the brush, so there are no obstructions, the canister is empty and properly on the unit. I checked to make sure all of the "traps" and hoses are clear of obstructions, the belt is on the brush securely and moves freely, the brush itself spins freely, but there is still the "ratcheting" noise. Any other suggestions?

The roller-brush on my Dyson DC17 makes a terrible noise at all times. I removed the cover and extracted all debris from this area, making sure all connections were as secure as possible, but that didn't improve it any. The problem has been getting worse. It works, then cuts off. Then works and cuts off. Making sure the canister is not full. Time b/w it working is getting longer and longer. Almost seems this time when I change the outlet it is plugged into it works. But then shuts off quicker than it was doing before. I'm getting very frustrated.

I replaced the belt on my Dirt Devil Featherlite Bagless Vacuum and the brush roller rubs and makes a very loud noise when turned on. I have gone exactly by the manual instructions and made sure the belt and end caps were on correctly, but the bristles still rub the back and it makes a very loud noise. Without the brush roller in the vacuum, it sounds and runs normal. What could the problem be?

We tried several other outlets and it just won't turn on. I have a Dyson all-floor model (not the ball). I recently replaced my carpet to a Frieze. Since replacing the carpet, the Dyson is extremely hard to push. It almost forms a "seal" with the carpet. Seems to work fine on Berber carpet and laminate floor. My husband has checked to make sure the brushes are working, hoses are not clogged and belts are OK. I've had it for about a year. It is virutally impossible to push on the new carpet. Any ideas?

I havethe first generation purple Dyson Animal model. The brush rotates fine, but doesn't make sufficient contact with the floor/carpet, therefore does not pick up most items on carpets (suction still works however). If I put my foot on it and push down a little, it works. However, since I'm not an accomplished acrobat, this is not easy to do. :-) Any suggestions on whether this is fixable? Or should I just save up to buy a new one?

Electrolux Hi-light Hi, my hoover is making a weird knocking noise and emitting a burning smell. Took the lid off and the belt *seems* okay, but still makes the noise and the smell....

Burnt smell is probably the belt slipping. Even though it looks OK, either the belt needs replacement and/or the roller needs cleaning and/or lubrication at the ends. Try cleaning the roller ends first and then light lubrication with WD40. If belt ... Electrolux Central Vacuum
