Having problems with your Oreck XL2200 Bagged Upright Vacuum ?

Oreck Belts Why do they smell badly and almost always break when being used for an extended period? I see Mr. Oreck in print, television and internet ads -- and he certainly carries himself as a credible person; a man you want to believe....But reading his biblliography -- he started his career (in this area as I know it) as a "Vacuum Cleaner Salesperson" for Whirlpool. Many vacuums brands - particularly those that are noit sold directly by retailers (Oreck, Kirby and others) use the commission-

Unfortunately this is a very common problem on the Oreck XL uprights. As you you noticed, there is even an extra belt storage on the machine itself, on the bottom plate. When a vacuum cleaner has to put an extra belt on the machine, this should be a clear warning sign that you're going to have replace belts.....frequently! Unfortunately this is just the nature of the beast. Since there is no height adjustment on the nozzle itself, the vacuum will lower until it hits the carpet, the carpet is the only thing that adjusts the height of the carpet attachment. On other vacuums you have the ability to raise and lower the brush head according to what type of carpet your cleaning. When the brushes are at the proper height, the belt is also running at the proper tension and strength on the brush. Since the Oreck doesn't have a height adjustment, the brushes have a lot more resistance to the carpeting, which is what leads me assume that's why the machine goes through so many belts.

\015\012Oreck XL's were designed for hotels. Their slogan used to be "The Hotel Vacuum for you Home" even. Anyone who has ever stayed at a hotel knows that most have a very low pile commercial grade carpeting. The Oreck XL does a fabulous job at cleaning low pile carpeting that doesn't have a lot of dirt to vacuum up (restaurants kill most vacuums, but especially Oreck). The problem is that the Oreck XL was originally designed for cleaning low pile commercial grade carpeting, and not to clean plush, piled carpeting. The Oreck's have a 4 AMP motor in them, and where as it's true AMP's don't equal suction power, it's safe to assume that a 4 AMP motor will not produce near the suction as a 12 AMP would. When cleaning low piled commercial carpeting, you don't need much suction power, even an electric broom can clean this type of carpeting.

\015\012Oreck however does do one thing right, and that's advertising. David Oreck is everywhere! Newspapers, TV commercials, internet advertising, direct mailers, and more. They spend so much money advertising their vacuum cleaners that everyone is familiar with their products. What most people don't realize is that the customer is the one gets to pay for all of the advertising that's being done! Through the power of advertising, Oreck has taken what should sell for a $100 electric broom, and turned it into a $600 full size upright! Dyson vacuums are the exact same way, a lot of advertising, but not much vacuum behind the price.

\015\012Chances are that if you heard about a product through a info-mercial, or a newspaper add, then that product automatically is going to be sell for more then it's worth.

Have Dyson DC 14. When tilt to vacuum, the handle and coiled hose comes away from the unit. The problem started when the little purple ridged curved part on front of vacuum cleaner right below handle came loose and a spring fell out from somewhere--don't know where. I pushed on the purple ridge part and it snapped back on. Now, can't get it loose again, don't know where the spring goes, and handle still comes loose from vacuum.

I'm not positive whether or not this is the wand handle because there are several versions of the DC14. However the device the locks and unlocks the wand in place is pretty similar between all the versions. The first picture is the wand re ... Dyson DC14 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

I heard that a class action lawsuit against Oreck Vacuum is being started because of all the problems customers are having with their vacuums. Does anyone know about this? My Oreck is only a couple of years old and keeps burning up belts. I took it in after only one week of usage when I started to notice white smoke coming out of it and the smell of burning rubber. I feel like I got the old run-around, when the service tech told me he couldn't find anything wrong (but replaced the burned up belt

110-220V Dear Sir, I purchased a kirby sentria vacuum cleaner from ebau two weeks ago. I currently resid in the UAE with 220V power. My maid has plugged the vacuum to work with it unaware of the voltage difference, a terrble noise as mentioned came from the cleaner as well as a smell. She unlugged it and stopped t from operating. Can you please let me know how can i assess the damage? If this model has a switch from 110 to 220V IS there a solution with transfromer or motor to make it work? Thank

You may have burnt up the motor field when it was plugged into a 220V power source. But there are drop down transformers you can get to reduce the voltage form 210 to 110. AS Radio Shack or similar store would have them. ... Kirby G4 Bagged Upright Vacuum
