I need to replace the cord on an older Hoover upright, model S660, about 1986 vintage. The cord broke where it enters handle. Handle comes apart easily. Just not sure how to pop the switch out without breaking it. Was looking for a manual online to see parts diagram and/or instruction on disassembly and cant seem to find one for that old of vacuum.

Check ebay. those vacuums are worth fixing. I loved them. they would **** the carpet off of the floor! those cords aren't hard to replace.just remember the way you got the old one out. ... Vacuums

Vacuum cleaner I am needing to buy a vacuum cleaner - the flooring in our house is mainly oregon pine with loose rugs. I suffer from back problems and find the cylinder vacuums cause a great deal of back strain. I have been told that an upright vacuum is not suitable for wooden floors - I would appreciate any advice, particularly if u know of an upright vacuum cleaner that works well on wooden floors Thank you

The last time the vacuum cleaner was used the outlet sparked causing it to smoke when turning on vacuum cleaner. I replaced the outlet and plugged it in and things seemed o.k. Today I turned on the vacuum, it stayed on for a mili second and went off. I checked the switch on the vacuum and it showed voltage coming and going, but would not turn on again. I checked all the wires in the area of the switch all seemed o.k. I thought maybe there might be a short in the cord. When I went to plug

Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby's are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,

Hi. We have a Riccar N2100 vacuum cleaner, which has served us well for many, many years. I'd like to attempt a repair on this unit, and looking for advice and/or a parts diagram to proceed. The unit makes a groaning sound when shut off. The sound tapers off in pitch as the motor and beater bar come to a stop. The sound only happens when the vacuum cleaner is turned off in the normal upright position. The sound does not happen when the lower unit and main housing are both laying flat. I took

A family member recently gave me their Kenmore Vacuum Cleaner (model 35821) and I did not notice that the power cord was missing at first. I tried to look closely at the manual online to see if this was something I would be able to purchase or if the vacuum was no longer any good. I am replacing a foot pedal on an upright Sharp vacuum cleaner-EC-TU2607. I have the broken foot pedal removed from vacuum cleaner proper but it is the removal of the broken pedal from its spring load that has me puzzled. I applied some pulling effort on the pin that holds the spring in place but there doesn't seem to be any give. Is that the correct approach or is there something else that one should be doing first to release some of the resistance by the pin or spring? Thanks!

I have a Zanussi 1700W bagless upright vacuum cleaner which keeps cutting out after about 5/10 mins use. I had to replace the rubber drive belt which snapped not long after purchasing and it was fine for a while, but now its just keeps cutting out after a small amount of use. Nothing wrong with belt which is still intact so we don't know what the problem is. It's a great cleaner otherwise - but it's driving us mad!! Please help!
