Need to replace clips that hold motor to the basin on Rainbow vacuum
There is somebody on ebay that sells clips for the rainbows. Do an ebay search on rainbow clips or rainbow latch. I think they include instructions.
There are small brass colored pin going through the latch half way between the upper portion and lower portion, where it is attached to main body of the Rainbow. Take a small nail or dowel put it directly on one end of the brass pin and tap till it comes out. Put the new latch where the old one was and insert the pin till it stops. Then tap slowly so as it pushes though the other side you can line up the hole. When the pin is flush, you are done.

Kirby Vacuum Hi Bruce, In my opinion, yes the Kirby would be worth it, as long as you are not replacing the motor. The switch would be the most expensive part besides the motor that would need to be replaced. The switch costs USD 49.99, the cord is roughly $39.99, and the carbon brushes are $29.99. I can easily walk you through any of these repairs should you need help. Kirby's are great vacuum cleaners, that usually last 30+ years. Brand new these machines sell in the US for $1600 or more,

The bar has been cleaned and there are no worn or damaged parts so I conclude that the clutch at the motor end of the belt needs to be replaced. Motor is sparking and smells like burning rubber. When it first happened I thought the vacuum had something jamming the beater bar. That was the smell it had, like when the belt gets burned. But when we turned it over, it wasn't jamming. Took off the base plate and turned it on. The motor area is sparking and it makes a weird noise (I assume that is because the motor fails and restarts). I looked for loose wires, can't find any. I believe I need some sort of part replaced, maybe even a n

Rainbow Vacuum, about 5 yrs old (bought new, no issues prior) - my 6yr old tipped it on it's side while water was in basin. Now when I turn the power on, it makes a very loud sound in the motor and you can feel the vibration on the floor. The suction still works and basin still catches dirt - the noise is just so loud and I'm not sure if I should continue use or how to fix -?

Replacement parts... I've got a 3594 Bissell and the belt has come completely off. In the process of breaking, it bent the metal guide inside the motor housing and melted the plastic that holds the guide and keeps the belt inline with the roller.
