Having problems with your Rainbow Technologies D4 Bagless Vacuum ?

How do you replace the top shell of the Rainbow D series? It doesn't look like the wires can be disconnected without cutting.

Answers :

To replace the top cap of a D4 Rainbow vacuum:

Remove the separator.
Remove the 4 screws on the bottom.
Pull the bottom off around the foam tank gasket.
Remove the next 4 screws.
Carefully pull the wiring up through the middle section wire hole.
Remove the top cap 4 screws.
On the bottom of the switch there are 4 fingers, one on each corner.
Push the fingers towards the center of the switch and push the switch through the rectangular hole
Pull the wire through the middle section and the top cap to give you as much loose wire as possible.
On the long sides of the switch near the wires are 2 small round holes with small semicircular tabs pushed through the sides of the switch assembly. These tabs hold the wire assembly in the bottom of the switch. Very carefully push a jewelers screwdriver between the switch body and the wire assembly on each side simultaneously to release the tabs and pull the wire assembly from the switch body. BE VERY CAREFUL. Do not pull the wires hard. The wires are held in the wire assembly by small friction clips. They are not soldered or attached except by the friction clips. These friction clips fall out very easily. The twist in the wires alone will pull them out of the friction clips. So hold onto the wires in such a way that they cannot twist free. If you loose a wire or two, you will have to push them back in and reset the friction clips. This was a challenge of dexterity. During factory assembly, The wires were probably pushed one at a time into the bottom of the completed assembly. You could record the position of each wire and replace them as the factory did. This was the most difficult step as the switch came apart very quickly and without warning and the wires very nearly separated from the switch assembly.
Remove the old top cap from the wires and replace it with the new top cap. A 3rd hand may come in handy.
Push the wiring assembly back into the switch body the same way it came out.
Push the switch back into the top cap.
Reassemble the vacuum.

Nutone Broan CV556 runs continuously and will not shut off until I unplug it.. I disconnected the low voltage wires and it still runs when I plug it in. Inside the top of the vacuum are 3 electrical devices - one looks like a transformer wire -- one is a rectangular electronic black box. The third is an on off rocker switch. Oreck Upright Hi Redev, I'm not sure what model I have (about 6 years old...upright, looks like the one in the picture). I changed the belt (which was torn) and then the next time I used it, it cut off on me. Now if won't turn on at all. (I turn the switch on and off and nothing happens as if it is not plugged in but it is!). I noticed at the top where the power cord enters the handle, it is all frayed. Could the electrical wires have detached? Anything you think I should check before taking it

I have a Eureka Central Vac CV1601b. The motor does not stop unless the Unit is unplug from the electrical outlet. Any Idea?.I removed the control unit to check if there was disconnected wires or burnt wires. Everything look normal. The circuit board does not show area that overheated. There seem to be 2 relays. Likely one of the two went bad. What do you think.

If the unit is relay controlled, there is always the possibility that when the unit was turned on, the relay contacts welded themselves shut making the power button ineffective. \015\012\015\012If you're familiar with relay pinouts, with ... Vacuums

Motor is sparking and smells like burning rubber. When it first happened I thought the vacuum had something jamming the beater bar. That was the smell it had, like when the belt gets burned. But when we turned it over, it wasn't jamming. Took off the base plate and turned it on. The motor area is sparking and it makes a weird noise (I assume that is because the motor fails and restarts). I looked for loose wires, can't find any. I believe I need some sort of part replaced, maybe even a n

Dyson DC 14 hose has no suction, with or without brush attachments. Hot air shoots out from the base of the canister when I try to use the hose. I cleaned the top filter, but can't figure out how to remove the hepa filter to clean it without destroying the case. It looks like it might take three hands to insert pennies and "flip" the case open as is suggested on a youtube video for a different model. Does the hoover runabout u427-930 have a filter? I replaced the belt and next to the light bulb was a square gray mat that looked like a filter covering a screen full of holes that looked like the motor was behind. I think it was a mat of cat hair so I took it off and threw it away; I just want to make sure that it wasn't a filter that I need to replace.

From doing a search on the internet and hoovers website it looks as if this unit does not have a filter. Such as a hepa that needs to be replaced or that is washable. So i think you are safe and dont need to worry about it. ... Hoover Elite U5061-900 Bagged Upright Vacuum

I've never had to change a CFL bulb like the GE 35972 in my kitchen ceiling fixture. It looks like a squared off pretzel with the socket in the middle and facing up to the ceiling. It's been in there for years -- this is a rental -- and because it's so close to the ceiling, I can't tell where to pull the pins from the socket apart without breaking it. Any instructions or suggestions? Also, my Home Depot doesn't sell it; will the pins match a different CFL, like maybe a circular one?
