How to replace Simplicity vac brush roll strips?

\015 How do you replace the brush roll strips on a Riccar/Simplicity metal brush roll?I have removed the clutch assembly and the shaft from the metal roller. There's a metal cap remaining on one end - on the other end, where the clutch assembly goes, there's a plastic cap. There's a bearing in each end.The old strips need to slide out and the new ones slide in, but the caps remaining on the roller won't allow the strips to come out.\015

Answers :

The caps will come out of the end of the metal roller. They can be difficult if it's been a long time as dirt and grime can build up. Try sticking a flat head screwdriver in and gently twisting to get the caps to slide out.

I have the Eureka 4870 "The Boss" Smart Vac. The beater bar began to turn constantly and can't be shut by moving the Brush Roll Contol to Bare Floor position or the machine to the upright postion. It has also eaten two new belts. A local tech says he has seen this problem whereby the free-wheel assembly that makes contact with the belt to engage the beater bar is misalgned and cannot disengage. It is usually the chassis which would mean replacement of enough parts that would not be worthwhile

Replaced belts flat and v, but still stops turning even on high carpet setting when vacuuming. Carpet setting and height adjustment appears to be working OK, roll is clean and turns easily when out. Also turns easily until it engages the carpet. Self propel function works just fine.

I have a Filter Queen Majestic 360 and am having problems with the powerhead. There is a loud rattling noise in the powerhead, especially when I vacuum thicker carpet. I have replaced the motor, roller brush, and belt, but the rattling remains. It sounds like it is coming from the roller brush area, and when I turn the powerhead over, it rolls free and sounds fine. Any thoughts?
