I have an old Friedland door chime (approx 30 years old). It has 5 terminal screws to connect wires. They are labeled 0-4. I removed the chime during remodeling and would really like to reuse it. I did not label the wires and where they connect when I removed it. I can't figure out how to wire it. I contacted Friedman and they were of no help... didn't have information on chimes that old. Can you help with how to wire the chime given it has five connections screws with no labels other t

Central vac system is 18 years old. Recently started to shut down during vacuuming. Motor may be over heating. Electrolux has been out and is pushing a new system but not sure if it is necessary.
The motor can be replaced for a lot less than the cost of a new machine. A new motor comes with a one year warranty if installed by the service tech. A new CV unit alone may be over three times as much, but does have a five year warranty.\015 ... Electrolux Cs 3000 Central System Vacuum
I have a 3 year old NuTone CV 353W central vac system and recently the switch on the hose handle does not turn the system on from any outlet in the house. I have to plug the hose into the outlet and then turn the unit on from the switch on the cannister. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
A great way to check if your switch in the hose is bad would be to turn the hose sideways in the inlet. If the unit turns on you most likely need a new switch. ... Broan-NuTone CV450 Central Bagged Central System Vacuum
I have a whirlpool personal valet steamer system that is mounted to the wall. The system was in the house when I purchased it so I would suspect it's about 8 - 10 years old and I cannot find the manual for it. When I push the start button it automaitcally cancels the set up and will not run. I have unplugged it for a while and then put it back in and it's worked before but not anly longer. How do i get a manual or can I find a repair person to look at it.

I cannot get the sprays from either the bottom or the handpieces to work. I only get a short "gurgle" of fluid when I first press the controls. I have cleaned both the top and bottom cap and insert parts, and I have turned the machine off and on numerous times, have allowed it several minutes to warm up. But still no luck. Nutone Broan CV556 runs continuously and will not shut off until I unplug it.. I disconnected the low voltage wires and it still runs when I plug it in. Inside the top of the vacuum are 3 electrical devices - one looks like a transformer wire -- one is a rectangular electronic black box. The third is an on off rocker switch. Which piece it likely to be shorted out? It is about 8 years old.

Its for a central vac system. I have very low suction power. I've emptied the dirt trap. It seems the fan is working ok, so I guess theres a clog somewhere but I have no idea how to find and fix it. I have no manual on the unit as it was in the house when we bought it. I'd guess its same age as house (19 years old). Any advice would be graetly appreciated!
Usually, low suction would indicate access ports allowing air to enter the system. Easy to test system however. Test vacuum first. Remove intake hose to vacuum ( at the vacuum canister ) and place your hand over intake. You should feel considerab ... Vacuums
I have a 10 year old AirVac central vacuum system that has worked until this morning. As I was using it this morning, and turned it off for about five minutes it would not start again. The tank in the garage (that accepts the dust) sounds like it is just huming not working. What is wrong?

The motor just went out on my 2 year old vacuum with light usage (hardwood floors in a very small house.) The Sears repairpeople are estimating ~ $130 to fix (this includes parts & labor). I'm wondering if it's worth investing $130 into something i've spent $350 on only 2 years ago. Shouldn't these machines last longer ? Is there something I could do to get them repair free as it seems the motor must have been faulty to only have lasted 2 years. Thoughts ?

Hi There I have got a Kirby 2 HG vaccum cleaner which is around 20 years old now. It was going really well until last week when one of the capacitors which are connected to the brushes blew up. There is two capacitors one for each brush. One of them completely blew to bits and the other one is still intact. My question is are they the same size and where do I get a new one from. I know it is an old machine, but I would like to fix it and get it going again. Any tips???
