Having problems with your Sebo Air Belt C3.1 Bagged Canister Vacuum ?

I believe I have a short in the wand of my sebo. How can I fix it or how much is a new wand ?

Answers :

I sure would like to know how you handled this problem. I have fixed many of these Sebo collapsible
wands. The fact that you felt you had a shot is very true. They use wire that is not sufficient for the
power it is trying to supply. If you
took it apart you would find that the interior wires are burnt and crispy.
Eventually they break. They also tend to
break where the wire bends to allow it to extend and collapse.

I took it apart and kept about 3" - 4" of wire attached to each
of the plugs because that part is impossible to take apart (actually impossible
to put back together) cut on of the wires about 1" shorter than the other to
allow your soldering to end up in slightly different places in order to fit
through tube. I used some spare wire I had on hand but slightly larger gage
than the one they used. Match the wire length to the length of the original
wire use a bit extra for now for accident sake. Purchase a 3ft length of 3/16
inch shrink tube about 3 ft. long. You must get a continuous piece in order to
do this job. I got mine at Advanced auto parts, they had an 8 ft. length. Solder
the two wires closest to the bottom plug (the one that will be going into the
gray tube. Keep your solder as small as possible. After stripping the wires
push the wires into each other and squeeze them all around to keep it compact. Solder... if it is large cut a bit off the
sides. Place a thinner piece of shrink tube over each wire and heat. Now put the entire wire into the 3/16 inch
shrink tube. Now place inside shrink tube from bottom up. Be sure the wires are side by side when
shrinking as to form the same shape they had in the rubber shrink they
used. (I found that as soon as it was
heated I would run it over my rolling pin while pulling down and it would set
it in nicely. (Good luck getting it from the wife) Continue until entire wire is
shrunk. Start with the bottom of the tube with the slot in the bottom. Push all
the way through once done you can reattach the
bottom plug be sure to wind wire the same as it was under cover, the
tube slot attaches inside the plug cover move around till is seats itself and
won't pull out. Screw down. Snug wire at top of tube, make sure felt o ring is
slipped into slot. Replace the clip in top of wire so wire is beside the tube
on the inside. Now put on the gray
slider to the wire. It fits into the slot that ends are the screw the wire will
form a U shape with the u middle at the screw and the hole in the gray slider
at that end. Check the length of the wire by placing the top plug in place and
the wire should meet each other where you will solder. Cut to adjust leaving
one them an inch apart as you did before. Don't solder yet!! Put a piece of 3/16 inch shrink that will be
long enough to cover the remaining wire after solder. Run it far away up the
wire to avoid heating before you need it.
Also run two smaller & thinner pieces up each individual wire and push
back out of way, solder as you did the others.
Push the small shrink tube over each and heat. Now bring down the other
shrink tube and heat. Place the wire into its slot and replace cover... Voila it
should work.....
Best of luck! Anybody deciding they don't want to try this?
I'd love to have your old one... Kathy
The short could be in the wand, the hose handle or the power head neck, sometimes it's tricky to distinguish and sometimes you will replace two mating electrical components. You should take all to a SEBO dealer for diagnoses unless you are certain it's isolated as a wand issue.
Either way, take your wand to a Dealer and ask if the internal cord is replaceable.
Sebo parts will normally be found only at a SEBO warranty or sales center . Its a great product

My Dyson DC17 has lost suction on the wand and is not picking up dirt as it should. I have taken the small part at bottom of the machine off to see if there is a blockage--none that I can see. The flexible tube on wand is very tight and won't extend very much. Dyson sent me a new cyclonic part in April but the machine still doesn't seem to be working properly. My serial number is 260-us-d11545. Is there somewhere I can take my Dyson to get it fixed. I'm very frustrated with it. Thank you.

HI, I have a Kenmore 25813 and it seems like there is an intermittent short. When I have the extension wand on and the power floor attachment on, when it rotate the wand the light cuts out and so does the power floor attachment, when I twist it back it comes on again. I don't have this problem if I remove the wand and just use the crevice tool with the hose. Any idea where the short might be and can I fix it myself? Thanks. Gary

We bought a new home in march. It is a brand new home, with brand new First Alarm smoke/CO detectors. The very first night, we noticed the iving room (main) smoke alarm was "chirping". So we tried to replace the batteries, but when we did, all of the smoke alarms started going off (they are hardwired). We took out the new battery & dealt with the chirp. It is getting to be too much. So we are trying to fix it, but everytime we replace the batteries, the alarms are silent for a little bit, & then

Please tell me why I should consider buying a dyson after 4 years mine has had to have new parts and now it is totally beyond fixing. So many parts have broken off of it and I can only use so much duct tape to repair. I need a new vacuum but I am very skeptical to invest again in a dyson.

My Dyson Root 6 made a loud banging sound, and now its motor emits a strong burning smell every time it's switched on. It runs for a second or two, making a lot of noise, and then stops. (Just bought a new battery for it, too - what a drag...) It's off warranty, and Dyson wants almost as much to fix it as a new one would cost. I have a self propelled Royal Dirt Devil vacuum model number 087900 and it goes backward fine but forward has to be pushed so hard it's impossible. Is this a switch? Do you know about how much the part would cost and can it be done by a beginner. We fix a lot of things ourselves but we aren't mechanics by no means. We put a brand new belt on it. I don't think it can be put on backwards and brush turns fine. Where is the switch? Use layman's terms.

You might try a new belt and/or brush roll. The brush roll is what helps pull a vacuum forward, the power drive helps, but if the brush isn't turning like it should, then it will hinder forward motion. The belt may look ok, but they stretch to the ... Vacuums
