Motor/Fan does not run. I have removed and taken the top of the canister plastic motor housing apart and tested for power. I have power through the cord to the switch and power from the switch to the two wire terminals. I have not removed the motor. Looks like I will need special tools to take out the motor. The Vac looks almost new. It has been setting for several years. What do you think?

BURNING SMELL My DC 07 has suffered from poor suction in the upright position for some time now but this morning it ground to a halt. It was if the motor had burned out. I turned it upside down and some small stones etc tumbled out. I tried switching on again and the motor kicked in but the smell was horrendous so i switched off immediately. If it's likely to be **** inside the motor area i don't no how to access it. I've removed for fixing screws but still unable to prise apart. Is it just the

I have a dyson canniter stow away vacuum. i've had it for 2 years and it just started having a problem. when i turn it on the motor starts just fine but the vacuum head does not turn on. Yet when i push it forward it trys to start and turns on for a second and turn off - almost like the connector isn't connecting the hose to the head very well anymore.

Hi, After reading you're problem, the symptom's are just like you said. Its just a matter of checking the connections. The connection where it plugs into the head it self. When you push forward the forward motion and down pressure makes ... Dyson "Stowaway" Canister Vacuum Vacuum

After using the vac for 10 minutes or so, the motor starts turning on and off with greater frequency the longer I let it run. Eventually it is on and off so frequently that it has no power. Would this possibly be the 24V relay? I have checked the breaker on the unit and it is not tripped. Does the motor have a thermal overload switch separate from the breaker?

No it dosen't. I fix central vacs all the time and relays usally don't do what you described. They either go out all the way and won't turn on or they will trip and you will have to push the breaker back in. What is probably happening is you have a s ... Electrolux Centralux Vacuum

My Kenmore canister vacuum (model 11627515700) will not turn on. Although when I set it to CARPET the agitator does come on, however the vacuum still doesn't. Is it likely a motor or switch problem??

Your motor in the canister part of your vacuum is bad you can by a nee one for about $84..They have them used on ebay for $40. just type in Kenmore 116. The reason why your agitator is working is because your agitator has a separate smaller motor. Yo ... Vacuums

On the piece that covers the brushbar and motor (the clear plastic piece that has the dyson logo), it looks like a small plastic ridge that holds the cap for the brushbar snapped off. Would too much wobbling of the brushbar cause it to turn on and off? The switch seems fine.

In theory, yes. If the brushbar isn't held firmly, then the belt isn't running smoothly which puts more strain on the motor. This can cause the motor to get hot very quickly which will trip the thermal overload protection. \015\012\015\01 ... Dyson DC15 All Floors - The Ball Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

Where are the screws/tabs that hold the kenmore 25513 case together? The vacuum makes a "clicking" noise like a relay is kicking in but the motor will not turn on. I suspect siezed bearings.

Motor is sparking and smells like burning rubber. When it first happened I thought the vacuum had something jamming the beater bar. That was the smell it had, like when the belt gets burned. But when we turned it over, it wasn't jamming. Took off the base plate and turned it on. The motor area is sparking and it makes a weird noise (I assume that is because the motor fails and restarts). On/off switch we have two of these vacuums at work, and both of there on/off switches dont work too well. its hard to explain, but when u normally turn it on or off theres a little resistance in the switch and you hear a click, with both of ours the switch moves freely back and forth from on to off, no resisntace, no click, and the machine doesnt stay on, or off for that matter. the switch just moves back and forth.

Hoover WindTunnel S3765. The motor spins and the belt turns when I turn the brushes on, and the brushes will spin. The problem is that when I do this on carpet, the brushes stop spinning. As soon as I pull the "head" off the carpet, the brushes spin again. It's almost as if the vacuum suction is too great. I took the head apart and watched the motor turn the metal spindle that the belt rests on, and the belt turns as well.
