I have a Hoover Windtunnel U 6439-900. The agitator brush will not turn. I installed 2 new belts, # 38528034, and # 38528-035 There is so much slack in belt # 3852034 (brush drive) that it cannot grip the brush. There does not seem to be any adjustment to take up the slack. I've put in new belts twice now & cannot get brush to rotate or tighten the belt to the brush.

My Bissell Model 3760-4 is not working properly. The belt has been replaced (and checked 3 times), but the brush bar does not move when the brush motor button is on. The little metal turning piece that turns the belt is turnable with one's finger when the belt is off, but when we put it all back together and turn on the vacuum, the brush bar does not go around and the burning belt smell returns. The portable part of the machine works properly. It's the brush bar. It has been cleared of hair, etc

Hoover Wind Tunnel 7500 Brush not Turning. I have replaced the Brush and the belt. The problem does not seem to be either to me. I believe might be a missing part. The place were the belt hooks on is a metal pole which never seems to grip the belt well. In fact it seems loose most of the time and slips on the brush, causing the belt to eventually burn up. Could there be a missing plastic or rubber piece meant to hold the belt taught on the metal pole?

The gear that turns the dual brushes on my Bissell Spot Lifter 1716 seems to be stripped. The belt looks loose as well, but when I take the belt cover and the brush assembly out, the gear that turns the brushes is loose and appears to be stripped on the cogs. When I turn the machine on the belt turns the gear but the brushes just sit there an vibrate. They make an attempt to turn now and then but not much. Need to get a schematic or the parts so I can order the gear if it is available and th

Hoover WindTunnel S3765. The motor spins and the belt turns when I turn the brushes on, and the brushes will spin. The problem is that when I do this on carpet, the brushes stop spinning. As soon as I pull the "head" off the carpet, the brushes spin again. It's almost as if the vacuum suction is too great. I took the head apart and watched the motor turn the metal spindle that the belt rests on, and the belt turns as well.

For some reason, when I tried to put the floor vacuum attachment back on and vacuum the carpet, I realized that the belt was not engaging. the belt is in there and not broken, but it is not turning the beater brush. it is just hanging loose around the brush. When I turn the wheel to engage the brush, it picks the belt up, but when I attach the vacuum to the attachment, the brush is just not turning.

Noise My Dyson DC08 is making a loud, rough, vibration/noise that seems to be coming from the from the rotating brush housing. I replaced the old belt which was several years old and slipping. When I run the motor with the new belt removed the machine sounds normal. The bearings on the rotating brush seem to be running smoothly when turned by hand both when out of the brush holder and when installed in the machine. I can't find anything rubbing on the belt or rotating brush. I applied a bit o

We have a Hoover upright vacuum cleaner, model Core 7. There is a switch that turns on and off the brush drive. This operates via a cam with a bearing putting pressure on the final drive belt to engage the brush head. My brush head is not turning and with the lever set to engage the drive there is still considerable slack in the final drive belt. There appears to be only a bearing deflecting the belt, should there be a pully or other device mounted on this bearing? There is so much slack a

Hoover windtunnel t series belt is loose- roller brush doesnt turn. Its brand new belt is slipping. we bough new belts and putthem on same problem. Can not find solutio in manual. How is the V-belt tension adjusted (Hoover Model U6439-900)or how do I know if the tension is correct? There seems to be a lot of "play" in the belt and I'm wondering if that is the reason the brush roll only turns as the wheels turn, regardless of the carpet height setting. And yes, the brush roll is set for carpet, not hard floor. Or is the cause of the problem something other than the V-belt? A new flat belt was installed when the machine was professionally serviced so I assume (?) that was a

We own a dirt devil model 088600, and are experiencing a problem with the belt wearing away a section between where the belt connects to the brushes and the motor. There is a lot of plastic/rubber residue coming out from the vacuum. We have tried new belts only to find the same problem occurs. I noticed that the source of the dust is coming from the section between the brushes and motor, where there appears to be a section that is misshapen and melted. On our Hoover U6445-900 (Mach 6.9) we replaced the small belt that goes to beater brushes in front of unit. Upon starting, the Hoover quickly got hot and smoky. We shut it off and looked things over carefully, but the second try also resulted in friction heat on the belt. Now it appears the belt may have stretched due to heat and the brushes won't spin. Last night as I was vacuuming, I noticed that the belt stop indicator light was on. I pulled out the hair that had gotten tangled around the brush in hopes of solving the problem. It didn't change things. I then unscrewed the entire bottom piece to take out the brush roller. I removed hair from the end piece of the brush roller and reattached the belt; however, I cannot figure out where the microchip is supposed to go so that I can reassemble the base piece by screwing it back together.
