Brushes only engage after pushing way past the carpet selection.
\015 I own a Dyson DC14 Animal, and while carrying the vacuum the hose fell out and the vacuum dropped on the floor. Now when I vacuum the brushes only engage when I push the carpet selector way past the carpet selection. Is there anything I can do to fix this, change parts, etc?\015
I have the EXACT same problem. Did you ever get it fixed? What did you do?

Dc07 problem I have a dc07 cyclonic vaccum and like this model, however, for some reason,it has been very dificult to push and pull for the past month or so. i have completely cleaned the brush assembly, cleared any obstructions in the hoses, and, cleaned the filter.I also checked the belt tension, wich i thought was fine but to no avail.Be advised that the brush assembly is spinning and suction is excellent. It just feels like the brush drags along the carpeting. this is a great vacuum cleaner and

I have a Necchi 522, an early mechanical stretch stitch machine. The timing and stitching are great, but over the past few projects I have noticed a balky tendency when I press the knee bar. After my last project the motor almost won't engage. Sometimes there is no sound, and sometimes there is a weak whirring, but no action until I push the hand wheel. I have a feeling that it is either the v belt or that the motor needs new brushes. Are either of these ideas likely, and if so, are they self

I have a Bissell Pro Heat 2X carpet cleaner and the brushes spin, then stop. I turn it off and when I re-start, the brushes do not spin until I push foreward. The it spins and stops again. Both belts are tight. The brushes spin if held above the carpet, but upon contact with carpet it stops. Same thing on a hard surface.
The reason for the brushes to stop when it is above any surface is there is a switch in the handle that stops the brushes so it dont burn your motor up it may have a faulty switch. ... Bissell Carpet Cleaner Powerbrush Deep Cleaner Vacuum
I have a Dyson all-floor model (not the ball). I recently replaced my carpet to a Frieze. Since replacing the carpet, the Dyson is extremely hard to push. It almost forms a "seal" with the carpet. Seems to work fine on Berber carpet and laminate floor. My husband has checked to make sure the brushes are working, hoses are not clogged and belts are OK. I've had it for about a year. It is virutally impossible to push on the new carpet. Any ideas?

For some reason, when I tried to put the floor vacuum attachment back on and vacuum the carpet, I realized that the belt was not engaging. the belt is in there and not broken, but it is not turning the beater brush. it is just hanging loose around the brush. When I turn the wheel to engage the brush, it picks the belt up, but when I attach the vacuum to the attachment, the brush is just not turning.

Brush Roll belt stops turning durring vacuuming on WindTunnel self-propelled, v belt is a little loose with handle down. Tensioning roll is engaged OK, but fully at the end of its travel. Replaced belts flat and v, but still stops turning even on high carpet setting when vacuuming. Carpet setting and height adjustment appears to be working OK, roll is clean and turns easily when out. Also turns easily until it engages the carpet. Self propel function works just fine.

My Dyson DC 14 is making the horrible "ratcheting"sound only when the brush is engaged on the carpet setting. I have cleaned the brush, so there are no obstructions, the canister is empty and properly on the unit. I checked to make sure all of the "traps" and hoses are clear of obstructions, the belt is on the brush securely and moves freely, the brush itself spins freely, but there is still the "ratcheting" noise. Any other suggestions?

On our new carpet (which is not that thick but thicker than the old) I can't set the carpet thickness high enough. The suction really grabs the carpet and bogs down my self-propelled wind-tunnel Hoover. I then have to push down on the handle to tilt the front up. The thickness setting is as high as it will go. The vacuum is making a noise like something is stuck when it is in the carpet position but not when in the floor position. I can't find anything that is stuck in the areas that I can see.
